Vietnam Calrose rice

Calrose is a Japonica variety, medium grain rice, which is stickier than long-grain Indica rice. It is the most abundant rice grown in California and commonly enjoyed as table rice and used for sushi. 

Because Japonica rice and Calrose rice are used for sushi, many people called Japonica as Calrose or general name Sushi rice. However, we can distinguish by the grain length. 

Japonica rice is in short grain group; meanwhile Calrose is in medium grain group. Obviously we can differentiate by their appearance.
